Mechanical Engineer – Dynamic Analysis

As a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Dynamic Analysis, you will be working closely with the Project Responsible Engineer to perform simulations and analyses of aircraft embarked operations on a naval vessel. Using company proprietary programs, you will be required to assess the aircraft/ship system and other components in a non-linear transient dynamic analysis considering non-linear time dependent ship motion, non-linear suspension dynamics, and various other parameters. You will be required to understand multibody dynamic systems and the impact such systems exhibit to meet customer requirements. Other tasks look to further develop the analytical tools to account for customer specific requirements. Excellent writing and presentation skills will help with preparing detailed reports, presentation slides, and defending your work in internal and external review meetings.

Your Challenge:

  • Working with the Project Responsible Engineer to perform simulations and analyses of the ship and aircraft dynamic behaviour

  • Adapt to proposed helicopter and ship systems and be able to produce results as requested by the customer.

  • Investigate different benchmark measurements and graphic interpretation of the operating limits, which may lead to expanding helicopter operational profile onboard particular ship type.

  • Update software/code to meet customer requirements, as required.

  • Work with both internal and external customers.

  • Support Marketing initiatives with proposals and cost estimates, as required.

  • Able to work within tight budget and schedule constraints.

  • Be able to present and defend your work in design reviews with customers.

What You Bring:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and registration with the PEO or eligible for PEO registration.

  • A background in dynamic system of motions.

  • Familiar with computer programming using Fortran and C/C++.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and the use of Macros.

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Working knowledge of naval systems, military standards, and Pro/E modelling, are assets

  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CPG) and a Canadian government security clearance
